How can I open MS Works files in Office 2002

I want to open my MS Works files in the various Office
components ... but the file conversions are not present in
the file types menu. I was wondering if there are ways
(besides having to open each file and convert to Office
file) to open the MS Works files directly. There has to
be a better way.

Have you ensured that the converters were actually installed? Several come
with Office XP (2002), but I'm not sure they're installed by default.

In the Control Panel, Add or Remove Programs, start the MS Office XP
element; choose Change... Add or Remove... Next. The Works converters are
under Office Shared Features, Converters and Filters, Text Filters.

If that doesn't cover your version of Works, then try (from Word, for
example) Help, Office on the Web... Download Center, and look there for
converters.
