The option in Word should turn Caps Lock off as well as correcting the
inverted case. But if that isn't working for you, you can tell Windows to
make a sound whenever you hit Caps Lock (also Num Lock or Scroll Lock, but
those are much less commonly hit by accident).
Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Accessibility Options. Put a check
in the box for "Use ToggleKeys" and click OK. You'll get a high-pitched beep
when Caps Lock turns on, and a lower-pitched beep when it turns off. You may
find that it's worth the annoyance.
