i have yet to figure out how to set up 'outlook' to receive a web-based http
mail service. i know it is possible in outlook 2003. how do you do it in
earlier versions?

thanks vince - you confirm my suspicion. beats me how microsoft can make a
product that is not compatible with their own mail service but works for the
competition (viz yahoo!).

i keep downloading updates hoping MS will produce a patch to make OL2000
work for web based servers, but no luck. is it in the cards, or is it a
massive change inthe architecture? i don't really want to purchase OL2003
just to download hotmail. it's easier to switch back to my yahoo account.

Both Hotmail & Yahoo require you to subscribe to their premium level to do
POP3 downloading.

I doubt you'll ever see any more updates to OL 2000. It's too old.

aha .... before i turned to hotmail i was downloading yahoo to outlook via
POP3 - but that long preceded the premium service! guess i'll stick with
hotmail and OE then! thanks for the heads-up.
