I am trying to upload a newsletter using list builder. I use Publisher to
write a newsletter and have compressed the images and still the size of the
newsletter is not less than 250K. How do I reduce the size to upload

ns,
Convert it to a pdf. All will be able to read it. How, you ask? Free
converters that perform as printer "dirvers." http://www.primopdf.com or

Thanks Chuck,
If I convert it to a PDF file then I probably will not be able to send the
newsletter as a message. I want to send it as a message and not an
attachment. Do u know if I can send a PDF as a message.

Not in the way you think. You can covert it to multiple .jpgs but I'm sure
that will reinflate your file size.

You must attach a pdf. However, you may wish to change tactics a bit. Read
this: http://www.microsoftfrontpage.com/usingfp/newsletters/ If money is a
crunch and don't want to buy FrontPage, try the free open source program
called NVU. http://www.nvu.com

I send newsletters created in the above manner to over 1,500 subscribers.

You can't send pdf as the message, only attached. You may send ONE page
Publisher messages by choosing Send E-Mail from the File drop down menu and
then Send this page as message. The page is converted to a .bmp image. It's
a beautiful image, but large. One page on my test ended up as 2,285 KB.

HTML is probably a better way to go.
Monte Enbysk, writing on the Microsoft Small Business center:

With free services, you can't provide professional-looking HTML newsletters
or promotional mails. With a professional service, you can design e-mail
announcements and newsletters that are clean and attractive and reflect the
professionalism your business pledges in the products or services it
provides to customers. List Builder provides basic HTML templates, enabling
you to create effective mailings in minutes (the mails will be formatted in
text for customers who can't receive HTML mails). You also can design your
newsletter easily in Microsoft Publisher, allowing for more flexibility in
the visual presentation of your mailings. Also, you can preview and test
mailings before they go out.

Chuck,

I tend to agree with your advice...and opinions, so don't get me wrong here.
If you go to Tools > Options > Web tab and under E-Mail options untick "Send
entire publication as a single JPEG image...", then a Publisher page will be
sent as a HTML formatted message, instead of as an image, and the message
size is much smaller. Just FYI...and still probably not as good as option as
you suggest.

David,
If I sent my Club's newsletter (ususally 25 to 40 page Publisher document)
as one long jpeg image, I can imagine the reaction... Whoa! These are
converted to pdf
Past issues are at: http://www.myscacc.org/newsletters.htm My articles
always start on page 3...

Interstingly, the OP didn't say how many pages were in the document.
