How can I remove a picture from a template?

I used a very nice Microsoft Word newsletter template to create a newsletter
for my team. I would like to remove one of the embedded images from the first
page of the template, but I can't select it. I'm assuming it's selectable and
deletable, but I can't figure out how to access it. Other images in the same
template were easily removed and replaced by those graphics relevant to my
business: healthcare.

Does anyone know how to remove what otherwise seems impossible to remove?
Please advise. Thanks!!

Do you have any formatting options when you right click on the graphic? Try
to right click>>formatting >>>layout and roam around the advanced dialog box.
Hopefully an MVP will reply and offer better help. I tried to recreate what
I think is your issue and could easly cut the embedded out of the file. Did
you try to just cut it out?

One thing to check ... you mentioned that the graphic is in a template. Are
you opening the template as a template to edit or are you opening the
template as a new graphic. You'll need to edit the template to change the
graphic.

I tried a couple of sample templates, and it would seem Susan hit it on the
head, your graphic must be in your header or footer, and needs to be edited
there.

Also, if you want to keep a graphic in your template, but change it each
month, you may want to size a blank drawing canvas and insert the graphic
into the canvas each month.

I've been opening the template to edit it, rather than opening it as a
graphic. I selected the "Dots themem 3-col" from the Microsoft templates
page, downloaded it, saved under a new name, and edited it with my own
content and images. However, on that first page, there is a lovely fern image
that I don't need. I had already tried going into the header and footer
sections to select it, but it's in neither. I even added grid lines to see if
I could figure out what table cell it's in, but that was a bust. I can't
right click it to bring it to the front or send it to the back or anything;
for some reason, I simply can't select that graphic. It's attractive; just
not relevant. Any other ideas? Thanks so much for your post!

Hmmm, it is a nice template. Buster, I was able to delete it. The image is in
a text box, not in a drawing canvas or just placed as a graphic. I tried
selecting the graphic and couldn't. That's because the object is formatted in
"Layout" to "Behind Text." It seems you can't select a "behind text" object
normally.

What I did that worked is click on the "Select objects" arrow on the drawing
tool bar. Then I clicked on the graphic -- ta da!! Selected and deleted.

Good luck
