How can I remove an email which is blocking my account?

I have received a failure to deliver notice which is blocking my account.
Since this freezes whenever I click on the email I can't delete it.

I solved this problem by "surrounding" the offending e-mail with others which
I wished to delete. Click shift click on both of those and then delete took
the problem with it.
