I'm unhappy about your last response. It seemed as if you were frustrated
or angry with me. If you remember, I made sure at the very beginning, to
mention to you that I'm very confused & do not know much about computers.
I think that my lack of communication or clarity has to do with the fact
that I am not explaining my situation properly. However, I felt like you
bit
my head off. I did not say that my ENTIRE auto complete cache comes up
when
I type the first letter in the address line of an email. All I was
saying,
was that when I type the first letter of someone's e-mail address, Outlook
auto-suggests the names that I have written to in the past, come up as
choices. The more letters I type, the more it narrows down the list.
On the outside chance that you might still be want to help me, all I want
to
do, is get into that list & remove all of the misspelled or otherwise
useless
e-mail addresses, so that the auto-suggest list only includes current &
correct e-mail addresses.
I'm amazed that I cannot find out how to do this! I cannot find it in the
help pages, but this might be the result of the fact that I do not know
what
this problem is called.

names & addresses included.

me.

Perhaps the confusion is that I have Outlook 2003, not 2002! I have
responded to you by e-mail regarding your suggestion that I clear the
cache-I
don't know how to do this & also I am concerned that if I do try it,
it
will
delete ALL of my auto complete e-mail addresses, which is what I
didn't
want
to do in the first place!

The reason the description was not clear is that in Outlook 2002 you
cannot
delete entries once the suggestion list has been narrowed to a
single
entry.
What you describe now also is unclear. The suggestion list will
never
contain all the entries in your autocompletion cache because by
definition
you have restricted it the moment you type a single letter.
The behavior you describe has also never been reported, so this may
be an
issue with your keyboard or the actual steps you are using rather
than
the
autocompletion cache.

My Outlook version is 2003 SP2. As far as my auto compete list,
it
contains
EVERYONE to whom & FROM whom I have ever sent an e-mail!!!! Based
on
your
question, it does not appear that I made the problem clear in my
e-mail.
If
there were only ONE entry in my list, I could simply try to delete
the
whole
Outook NK2 list-couldn't I?
Just in case, let me try to quickly restate the problem. Outlook
Help
does
offer a solution, which is typing a the first letter of the
mailing
address,
seeing the auto complete list for that letter, using the up & down
arrows
to
choose the one(s) you want to delete & pressing "delete" in order
to do
so.
I know of no other way to open the list than to do it this way,
one by
one,
letter by letter.

My Auto Complete is so full of nonsense that I MUST clear out
the
names
which
don't belong there. However, when I do as instructed,
something
seems
to
be
amiss. Here's exactly what I'm doing & what's happening:
As per the instructions, I open a new e-mail & in the "To"
field, &
start
with the letter "a" (for instance) to bring up the addresses.
The
instructions say to use the up & down arrows, highlight entries
I do
not
want
& click delete.
Unfortunately, when I do click delete, I get that sound
("gonk"?
LOL)
which
always indicates that the action I'm trying to perform is not
allowed.
That's it; I get stuck here every time, with no solution.
HELP!
