How can I remove the automatic columnation that Word 2003 does in.

When I change column size by moving the line with the cursor, sometimes the
program changes other columns as well, despite the fact that they are the
width I want. Then it sometimes becomes impossible to move a column line.
You have to error correction until you get back to the point at which you
started and try to do what you want in a different way.

Is there a way to turn off this function?

There are various ways to size columns relative to what happens to the other
