how can i rephrase an input from an external spreadsheet?

I need to convert minus integer entries (in a cut an paste scenario)
from a sheet that reflects them as 100- so that excel can recognise
them as a minus figures i.e. (100) or -100. Is their a way that excel
can be told to recognise any cell entry with the '-' character at the
end and convert it accordingly ...macro maybe?? any help would be
greatly appreciated
