how can I return a record not found message if the record is not f

I have a simple query that looks for a record no. if given it brings the form
with the record if not than it brings back all records. I will like an error
message to be displayed

Sorry, I am not sure I understand what you want to do.

Do you want to look for a specific record based on some criteria?
If the record does not exist do you want to Return ALL records in the
table or do you want to generate a message that says the specific record
was not found?

Can you post the SQL of the query? (View: SQL from the menu)

Can you code in VBA?

WHERE are you using the query? In a form or as the source for a report
or directly?
