How can I run a query in a data access page?

I've created a Data Access page to be used by 3 of our divisions.
They need the ability to verify whether a particular UPC number exists. If
not,
they will add it via the DAP.
I've got the DAP created and it works fine.
I'm trying to create a command button that runs the query to verify the UPC,
but I don't know what property looks for that query (or macro if I run it
through there).
Is this possible??
