How can I run Project from Access?

I am familiar with Microsoft Project and own a copy of 2002. Most of my staff
likes the visual provided with a ghant chart to list projects and assign
resources. However, few of my staff understands or is willing to perform
regular data input and maintenance. The level of detail and analysis needed
and subsequently required for management reporting could be easily
manipulated, maintained, and mined through Access. I currently own Access 97
and SQL server. Do any conversion programs, database architecture details, or
sample code exist that would allow me to create an Access interface that
feeds the schedule?

I thought that MS Project used a mdb file anyway: have you tried opening
it directly?

I would also guess that MS Project has a OLE Automation interface, if
that is what you want to drive, but I am not completely sure if you want
to use Access to manage a project, or Project to provide the UI to a
business database. If it should be the latter, then the Access UI is
enormously flexible and extensible using custom controls that you can
buy.

I remember reading of someone who designed a project management tool in
Excel, including Gantt diagrams etc, using VBA and Jet. Not quite sure
what that bit of information proves though!
