how can i save a file as a version on a floppy disk properly?

I followed the instructions from Word Project 9 (Shelly Cashman Series Post
Advanced), but the computer didn't save it as a version on a floppy disk and
instead, it just rewrite the same file on the disk. When I repeated the same
procedure on Drive C, it worked properly. Also I tried the same thing on
several computers and it was the same and didn't work either. What is wrong?

As I mentioned before it worked properly on Drive C but some erros occcured
and I had to restart the computer again after I made some changes to the
document, saved it and tried reopening the original document before changes.

Never ever read from, write to or print from floppy with Word. This is the
most certain method of ensuring document corruption. Copy to the hard disc
and work on the document from there. This is equally relevant to other
removable media such as CDRW.
