How can I save default formatting for shapes?

Hello --

Using Visio Standard 2003.

Settings are not saved when I use, for example
Format > Fill ... Apply, OK

After closing the document or template and re-opening it I see none of
the settings I want.

Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?

I believe the problem is with the Document Stencil for your drawing. Each
shape has a "local" drawing master that defines that shapes behavior for your
file. You need to edit this "master". (My terminology is probably
incorrect.) This was covered in the following post: Subject: Re: I changed
