How can I Save Shapes to SQL server

I want to connect to sql server or ms access from visio and save all shape
information to the database. And also view some other data from database in
visio. How can I do it?

start by learning how to access the shape sheet and change information in
the shape sheet (consider using the v2003 sdk), select a data access
architecture (ado, oledb) and have at it. John Marshall's site references
some good books (www.mvps.org/visio) and David Edson has some data
integration examples in his book (refenced on John' site).
