How can i save txt in email edited in Word on screen but locked!!

HELP!! I have just spent hours typing an email & I am afraid I am about to
lose everything!

I use outlook for e-mail & have Word set as my default editor. I had just
realized that I hadn't saved the draft & was about to, but wanted to paste in
a small table 1st, I right clicked & clicked "Paste by Appending Table" and
it locked on me! I have an hour glass, I can't do Alt E to copy & paste, I
can't scroll, I can't print screen, not that that would help considering most
of the text I am concerned with isn't on the screen. I can open another
instance of Word & work in it just fine. I have the AuoRecover function
turned on for every 10 minutes. I think I have located the auto save file,
but it has an ASD extension & I don't know how to open it! It's crucial that
I save this text, please someone tell me that there is a way!!!!! Leaving it
on the screen until I hear back.

Thank you!

Your best bet in this case may be to just turn the computer off (cut the
power without shutting down, after closing other programs). The only way
AutoRecovery backups are preserved is if Word hangs or the system crashes.
