how can i set default paste options so graphics paste as metafile

i constantly need to paste figures from another software program into
powerpoint. i'd like to be able to paste them as metafiles with a simple
keystroke, preferably ctrl-V...is there any way to set the default mode with
which a graphic is pasted when using the Paste command? failing that, can i
make a one combination macro to do this?
