How can I set the "shape data" for a shape in a stencil from XML ?

I want to build a stencil with shapes that have default "custom properties"
or "shape data" come off an external XML file.
How can I do this ?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

what version of visio are you using? In v2007 you can read xml directly into
recordsets and access it via programming.
VBA within a stencil is also an option for some. Graham Wideman discusses
some of the issues in his book "Visio 2003 Developers Survival Pack".

I am using Vision 2007 Trial version to learn.
Is there a sample or documentation that shows how this can be done ?

I'm unaware of any sample code to accomplish this. I'd start the project by
first learning to write vba code to read xml (check Chris Roth's site
http://www.visguy.com/2006/11/30/visio-and-xml-conference-resources/), the
ability to move data to a shape can be picked up in the visio sdk which is
on MSDN.
