I am using Infopath to create forms for staff to fill in when a potential
customer calls asking for a quotation. I have been looking for a central
location for people to open blank templates from, and then save them into our
back-office system software.
Although we do use sharepoint, I can't use it here as I am not looking to
store the info from a form in sharepoint.
What I really want is for the Infopath forms to be visible in the "new
office document" dialog box. They are, after all, templates! but it seems
that irritatingly, even after setting up custom tabs on a network folder etc,
the "new office doc" application doesn't recognise XML or XSN files. Very
annoying.
My only option now is to set up a startup script which puts a shortcut to
the network drive with the XSN templates in on the users' desktops. Not
really the ideal scenario! Any suggestions? Is there a registry key which
dictates which files can be seen in the "new office doc" app?
