i can't see how 7 (whatever's) per day for April relate at all to

Try VLOOKUP eg., =VLOOKUP(A1,Sheet1!$C$1:$A$3,3)

=SUMPRODUCT((A1<=Sheet1!B1:B3)*(Sheet2!A1>=Sheet1!A1:A3)*Sheet1!C1:C3)
