How can I show links between subtasks in Desciptive Network Diagra

Hi,

I've created my project Gantt Chart and want to use the Descriptive Network
Diagram view to make an easy-to-read flow chart to give to the boss. My
problem is that is not easy to read. The links between tasks are shown
however I have quite a few levels of summary tasks and no links are shown for
summary tasks. Because I have groups of subtasks under summary task, it is
not easy to see which subtask group belongs to which summary task without
some lines and/or arrows.

I would like to get lines joining summary tasks to all the tasks/summary
tasks within. Is this possible? I have thought of colour coding them but from
what I could see this would have to be done manually and I would prefer lines.

Thanks heaps, Pete

BTW, I'm running Project 2002.

Hello Pete,

Sorry, I don't believe what you want is possible. The only lines
appearing on the Network view are true link lines and you cannot (even
temporarily) link a summary task to one if its own subtasks. Sadly,
the drawing tools on the drawing toolbar are also not available.

I'm afraid the only option I can come up with is the color option.
You're correct, it would be a manual process, but at least you can
select multiple boxes (nodes) and color them with one go. You may
also have some success with manually re-positioning some of the boxes
to make things a bit easier to read or perhaps selectively collapsing
some of the tasks up under their summaries.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Hi Julie,

Thanks for the info. I thought that might be the answer :(. But you're
right, manual repositioning does clear things up quite a bit.

Thanks again,
Pete
