How can I take layer from drawing 1 to add to drawing 2?

How can I take a layer from one drawing and place it on another drawing that
I am working on?

Layer definitions are copied when you copy a shape that is on a layer. So
you just need to drop a shape, assign it to the layer you want, copy the
shape to the other document and then delete the shape.
