How Can I Tell if I Need Office XP Security Update KB837253

I have a Dell Dimension 8200 computer with windows XP Pro SP2 and MS Office
XP Small Business Edition SP1/2/3 installed. I have installed all of the
Office XP security updates except KB837253. In this update it appears to
associated with:

"...installs functionality to support client connections to Microsoft
SharePoint Portal Server 2001."

I am an average computer user and don't know if I really need the above
update. I don't have a clue as to what the MS SharePoint Portal Server does
(I did search Google). I would very much appreciate an comments/explanation
as to whether
I need to install the above mentioned upgrade. Thanks, Sam.
