I've installed and activated Office 2003 on cputer #1. Can I uninstall it
from computer #1 and then install it on Computer #2 without any problems in
reactivating it after the #2 installation?

Hi Eagle1.

If it's a retail rather than an OEM edition of MS Office System 2003
if you encounter any issues activating you can chose the telephone
activation method to be able to explain the situation to a MS technician.
If it's an OEM edition its tied to the first activated hardware and
isn't generally transferable.

Thanks Bob, you put me on the right track.

I found the full coverage of the uninstall/reinstall FAQs at
http://www.microsoft.com/piracy/activation_faq.mspx. I did a search of the
entire MS site and this didn't turn up before. Your reply put me on a page
that linked to it in plain English. I recognized the page as I've been there
before I bought O-2003, but couldn't get back there without your help.

Thanks again.

Not to confuse anyone about Bob's help: I guess he really didn't tell me
where to go, but the link he included in his signature gave me another
perspective and somehow I went to Microsoft's "Customer Services" page
wherein I discovered the full story about "Activation".

I'm thinking FAQs for Activation need to be also in the Support structure as
well as in the Customer Service area.

S'long.

I've got a different problem. I've been operating Office 2000 on my computer
and loaded an evaluation copy from MS of Office Professional 2003. The
evaluation period has been completed, and I want to return to my old version
of Office 2000. It seems that I cannot easily do so. Do any of you have any
suggestions to help me to return to the state I was in prior to loading the
evaluation copy?

Hi Cy,

I hope you still have your Office 2000 installed on your computer (by
installing the trial version of 2003 into a totally new directory, and even
separate drive). If so, just use Control Panel, Add or Remove Programs to
uninstall the 2003 version. If you overwrote your 2000 or uninstalled it to
install the 2003 trial, then you need to try the System Restore, or do a
total uninstall of 2003 and then reinstall 2000, as well as do all the
updates from microsoft.com...

If your OS is Windows XP, you can use System Restore to go back to a time
before you installed the 2003. You may need to insert your 2000 discs so
have them handy.

But first, be sure to explore
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=fh;EN-US;ofw (including the
Knowledge Base) for input on going back after using the trial version...
usually they have a Readme.txt file with the trial version that explains how
to install and remove it (look for it in the Microsoft 2003 directory under
Programs). As you can tell, I'm not so smart on this stuff so I hope someone
else comes in with better pinpoint advice, whereas I'm in the ballpark but
probably left field.

If you click START|ALL PROGRAMS|ACCESSORIES|SYSTEM TOOLS|SYSTEM RESTORE you
can choose a date before you installed 2003. You won't lose any of your data
but you may not be able to use that which you created and saved under 2003.

Good luck and let us know how it turns out.
