how can i use a superscript in a chart axis label

just figured out how to create a superscript/subscript in mac 2008 word/excel.

however, when i try to apply this to a chart axis label in excel, it won't allow me. i also tried copying the label from a word document, then pasting it in the formatting palette for the chart options, where i normally would write my chart axis title. this doesn't work either. the text is transferred but the number that should be in superscript form does not appear as a superscript.

thanks,
jason

I'm having trouble to get a superscript in a cell. It shows it as such (it's for a footnote, in another table), then, when I go to the next cell, instead of "10(superscript 13)", it becomes "1013". I changed the number properties from general to number & back, it still won't let me insert a superscript. Whassup?

Excel will not let you format part of a number. To format it the way you
want, it must be text. Add an apostrophe (') at the beginning of the number
('1013) and then you can format the 13 as a superscript.
