How can I use an IF statement to find out if the cell is shaded?

I am trying to use the IF statement to get find out if the adjacent cell is
been formatted -- shaded. For example, I have a list of products, so I can do
find and replace by only shading the sell. Now, I need to create another
column to give some notes on those shaded cells.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

the IF function wont help (or any other function/formulae) - you need to
take a look at 'conditional formatting'
