How can my Outlook ignore read receipts which are sent to me?

We have an annoying work colleague who puts a read receipt on every single
e-mail he sends. How can we have Outlook ignore read receipts which are sent
to me? The read receipt requests are making my Outlook box get bigger and
bigger unnecessarily

What version of Outlook? Are you using Exchange Server?

Read receipts don't take up much space, but they are definitely annoying.

Seriously, this is an HR/personnel issue, not a technical one. Tell him to
stop, or tell his manager, or yours. His behavior is rude and intrusive, in
most people's eyes.

Hi Lanwench,

Thanks for your response!
We're on Outlook 2000 and have an Exchange server

Do you know any tricks to completely stop the requested reply receipts?

Thanks from Annoyed

On your menu bar go to: Tools| Options| Preferences tab| Email options|
Tracking options| In the bottom half of that window choose "Never send
receipt"
After choosing that option you will no longer see his request for a receipt
and he will never know if you have opened his email or not.
