how come shapes are misshaped during printing in excel xp?

for example, when I create a perfect circle with the oval tool using the
shift button, on screen it is a perfect circle. But when I print it it
becomes more like an oval shape.

I'd guess that it was a design decision. (not too helpful.)

But I think I've read that powerpoint does a better job with this kind of
thing. Any chance you could use that application??
