How could my old Outllok program disappear and a new set-up appea.

I installed a child's software program yesterday. When I opened up Outlook
this morning (have used it on this computer for two years), it opened as a
new Outlook with nothing in it and no connection.

How can I find my old Outlook program (with the old address book and saved
messages?) or is it lost becasue I didn't backup?

Help!
