How do I access Outlook mail without the installation CD? My 21 year old son
had purchased this computer for college use in 2007. Unfortunately he died in
a vehicle accident less than two miles from his home, on his way to work,
early one morning at 5:33 am and died in a fatal two car head on collision on
02/28/2007. I am his Mom and it has taken me this long to even use the PC
here in his room. Anyway, long story short, I went to use his trial version
of the MicroSoft Office and of course, need a key or code or installation
disk. If anyone knows about 21 year olds, the chances of me finding it is
next to nill. I am wondering if anyone knows how easy the MicroSoft corp. is,
or nice I should say. Does anyone have
any experience dealing with them with a subject like this? I have a sleep
apnea issue brought on by the trauma of losing Josh, therefore I don't spend
any time on the telephone. I usually communicate via text or email. Can
anyone speak to this? Any help would be appreciated. I alos wish I could get
into his aim email and don't know what to do. I have set a new one up for his
friends to write down their thoughts and such..at (e-mail address removed) Thank

The trial period has expired. You can't use it on that host anymore.

Outlook costs money. So does Office. You could flatten the host (boot
using the Windows install CD, reformat the OS partition, and do a fresh
install of Windows) and then install a fresh copy of the trial version
(http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/products/HA101741481033.aspx). Even
if you use the trial version, it expires after 2 months. Then what are
you going to use?

Since your tales of woe only mention wanting to do e-mail, you don't
need the entire Office suite. You don't even need Outlook. Either
Outlook Express (no longer supported after 2006) or Windows Mail, both
free, is already installed in Windows depending on WHICH version of
Windows is on that computer. Windows Live Mail replaces both of those
(http://get.live.com) and is also free.

The outlook or Office installation was an OEM installation and as such MS
will not be able to help.
A trial version of Office is only valid for a set number of days after which
you cannot save any data.
If you wish to view old mail, you should set up Outlook Express and Import
the Outlook msgs
You should uninstal the trial version together with the activation
assistant. The either purchase a retail version of MS Office, be aware not
all versions of Office contain Outlook

I don't think that works with the newest versions - the clock change
disables it.
