How do I access the "Move Shapes Command" in Visio 2002 Pro?

I want to move a shape by an exact amount. Help says to use the "Move Shapes
Command" but I cannot find this command.

John,

I have the same problem with the Move shape and the Array shapes commands
that are supposed to be available under the Tools->Add-Ons->Visio Extras.
Neither of these commands shows up. Do you know if these are included as
part of the standard install of Visio Standard 2003. My software was
installed by my IT via the network and it is unlikely that they would have
done anything more than the standard install.

If I can confirm that there is an option to load these Visio Extras for the
Standard edition, I can go back and request that they do so. When I
inquired with IT about these features missing, they suggested I revert back
to a previous version of Visio in which they were included.

Please advise, thanks.

The Size & Position window also allows precise placement of shapes. It
works on individual shapes, so to move multiple shapes you would group them
together before moving them. You can find the window under the View menu.

If they are going to strip these functions out of the Standard version, the
least they could do is say so in the help file. I've spent a lot of wasted
time trying to find out how to get Array Shapes to work in Standard because
the help file says that it should be there.

My "upgrade" to Visio 2003 sure is turning out to be a big downgrade. I
think I'll be going back to an older functional version.

Found one way you could get it back with Standard. Turns out that when you
upgrade, Visio leaves a lot of stuff behind from your old installation.
Kind of sloppy but in a good way because it means you can get some stuff
back that you lost. Would be nice if they would link back to these things
as part of the installation procedure. I'm not sure what their purpose was
in leaving the stuff behind if they didn't want you to use it - who knows?
Anyway, here's what you do:

From the menu, select Tools->Options->Advanced (tab)->File Paths (button)
and in the "Add-Ons" edit box, type the path to your Move command from your
previous version of Visio. It should still be there and it should be
located in a directory like this:

C:\Program Files\Visio\Solutions\Visio Extras

Note that this will only work if you have a previous installation of visio
that had that feature and you have to find the Solutions directory where it
was installed. You may have to adjust the macro security to allow the Visio
extras macros to load. While you're at it you may want to also specify your
old stencils directory. It should be something like:

C:\Program Files\Visio\Solutions

This will get you access back to all of your old Visio Pro/Technical
stencils.

Let me know if that works for you.

Now you should have most of the capability you lost when you upgraded to
Visio Standard 2003. Unfortunately I still haven't been able to find how to
get back the useful array shapes command. I may have to write a macro to do
that on my own.
