How do I add a connection point to a custom shape in visio?

I want to create a custom shape with connection points, which I've done
before but for the life of me I can't remember how to do it and the help is
not particularly useful.

Dear Monkey,

First, make sure View/Connection Points is selected, then select the
"Connection Point Tool" from the Standard Toolbar (it's on a drop down under
the Connector Tool button), hold down the ctrl key and left click on the
shape to add the new point.

You can place the new connection point anywhere, either on the shape or off
to the side....best to use snap and place carefully.
