I just switch from outlook 2002 to 2003 and lost the short cut for new email
on the toolbar. Any one know how to get it back?

Shortcut for "new email"? What did this shortcut do for you?

I used the short cut off the office toolbar to quickly launch a new email
instead of having to open outlook to click on 'New' to start a new email

Ah. Create a shortcut on your desktop or on your Quick Launch bar whose
target is
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office11\Outlook.exe" /c ipm.note
(including the quotes and spaces). If you're using Windows XP, you can even
create a new toolbar to hold it if you want.

Thanks Brian, but i am not that XP savy - i tried to cut and paste that text
to my desktop - but obvously that was not what you had in mind. I can find
the "new email" icon any where on the computer to create a shortcut. All i
can find is the OUtlook icon. And in the 'New' drop down menu there is now
"create shortcut" option. And right clicking does not offer any options. Do
you how to create a shortcut for a 'New' email?

Don't you know how to create a shortcut? Right-click your desktop, choose
New, then Shortcut. In the "Type the location of the item" field, paste the
string I posted. Click Next. In the "TYpe a name for this shortcut" field,
enter what you'd like, for example "New Mail". Click Finish. You'll see
the Outlook icon apear with the shortcut arrow in its lower left corner.
When you double-click that shortcut, you'll get an Outlook compose window.

This is a fine technique for launching a new email message. What are the
commands for launching other Outlook items, like appointments, tasks,
contacts? Is there some way to find this out other than hoping someone
answers this kind of question? Didn't this used to be easy to without the
need for specialized knowledge?
