How do I add a swim lane to a cross-functional chart

Hi John

This is the same as I got from Help and I don't understand. I am a new user
and have a cross-functonal chart. At the side I have various shapes but
nothing that says Functional Band. Where would I find this? I looked at
Edit, Insert, Format and others but still could not see it.

Hi Sheila,

That's fine. Visio solutions are largely based on "Templates" (special
blank documents) and are associated with a set of one or more "Stencils"
(the place where the shapes at the side sit).

In this case, the Cross Functional Flowchart solution opens with three
stencils: "Arrow Shapes", "Basic Flowchart Shapes" and "Cross Functional
Shapes Horziontal/Vertical". Usually only one stencil is visible at a time,
but if you click on its respective title bar you'll be able to see the
shapes that sit in that stencil.

So here you need to click on the "Cross Functional..." stencil, if its not
visible, and the drag the "Functional band" shape that you'll find there
onto the drawing page. The clever shape will then automatically snap into
place.

Best regards

John
