How do I add a wav file in Powerpoint.pps to play over all slides

I have gone into Slide Transitions ............... inserted a wav file in the
appropriate box. Clicked Apply to all slides.
The music does not play.
I can put the same file in from the insert Movies and Sounds menu.
The file only plays on one slide and the pps does not move on.

In addition to Luc's links (thanks!) if you insert a wav as a transition do
not click "apply to all slides" just put it on slide 1. It will automatically
play across slides. If you want it to repeat click "loop until next sound"
