How do I add data points to a line graph?

A

Archer

I've read the Visio Help file on the subject and it isn't very helpful.
Specifically, I've used the drawing tools to create a line graph (i.e., a
straight-edged, up-and-down line bordered by X,Y axes) and the Help file
tells me to right-click on the graph in order to set my data points.

But...when I right-click on the graph I see no such option...which makes me
think what I'm calling a graph isn't what Visio calls a graph.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

If I understand correctly you've drawn your graph using the Visio line
drawing tools.

Try this:
from the menu
File -> New -> Charts and Graphs -> choose US or metric

You will now have a blank drawing with the 'Charting Shapes' stencil
open.
Find the shape 'Line Graph' and drag and drop onto the drawing.
You will be asked for the number of data points, then the graph will
be drawn for you. However, the data points are not set for you, move
the yellow markers to the points required.

P.S. You might be better off using Excel to draw the graph.
