How do i add fields to the timsheet?

Hi I think i have tried everything to do this including:

Creating a new Custom Outline Code (Task), ensuring it is published in the
requried project. However it is still not visible in the timesheet! I need
resources to update this field via the timesheet.

Also when a resource creates a new task i need to ensure that this field is
available for update.

How is it possible to add or remove columns from the timesheet view.

Any other ideas?
