How do I add yellow sticky notes to an e-mail like follow up flag

When I receive e-mails I review them and then plan on an action. Sometimes
it is the following week. I use my inbasket as a to do list. How can I
attach sticky notes like comments to an e-mail. So when I read it the
following week, I remember what I meant to do with it without re-reading the
entire e-mail thread? Is there a current method?

Open the message, click Edit>Edit Message and add whatever you want. Close
the mesage and save the results.
