how do I align numbers with the decimal in a table column ?

I used to be able to align numbers in a column by the decimal, I can't see
how to do that now. I will be using this for financial numbers.

Select the column (or cells) into which you want to enter the number that is
aligned on the decimal point and insert a Decimal Tab Stop at the required
position.
