how do i apply a design custom made design template?

i am trying to apply a design template i have made and saved into the
'my templates' folder, to a presentation... i have opened it through
the project gallery and then added another slide to which i have tried
to apply the slide design but nothing happens! i can apply any of the
microsoft templats but not my own... also the microsoft templates
appear to be uneditable (i mean the background) and have no suffux
after their name but my template is still editable and has the suffix
..pot is this a clue?
any help gratufully received!!!

Hi sgs,

Did you make your template design on the master slide? (get to it from
the View menu)

Hi Sgs,

Sure. Glad to (try to) help.

It sounds like you figured out the hard part. The easy part is knowing
that there is a master slide. Anything you do on the master slide is
picked up when you insert a new slide.

Use the menus: View > Master > Slide Master

When you open the master slide a little tiny toolbar appears with a
Close button. Click the Close button when you're done formatting the
master slide.
