how do I avoid categories opening in the task pad view?

In Outlook2000, I like to sit in Calendar with the Task Pad view but with
Categories "closed". If I move to Inbox (for example) when I return to
Calendar, all the Categories have opened up to show all the tasks and I have
to click all the categories to close them down to just the headings. How do
I avoid this?
