How do I avoid duplicate contacts between catagories in mass email

My firm has all its contacts arranged into catagories. Some contacts are in
two catagories. Is it possible to send an email to a catagory and manage to
exclude those who are also in another catagory?

Yes: Set up a view that excludes the category you don't want to send to. Then group that view by Categories. Select the ones you want to send to, then choose Actions | New Message to Contact or Tools | Mail Merge.
