How do I avoid POP of older email

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel
Email Client: pop

Hi All

I have just installed Entourage and set up my POP with my old Yahoo account. How do I set it so on the first send/receive command it does not download the thousands of old emails i have and only brings in the more recent ones (it wanted to bring in all the years of messages from my Yahoo box).

Move them out of the Yahoo Inbox using your web browser.
