I was directed here by a Microsoft bot, though I am not sure this is the
appropriate forum. I want to back up my hard drive to a hard drive at my
brother's house (cheap large capacity drive). I figured this would be easily
accomplished using FolderShare. The advantage is that there would be no per
gig charge. The way I understand FolderShare works, there is little data
space that Microsoft provides for the service, it is just keeping track of
what needs to be synched. It seems a trivial tweak to make this service a
one way synch (true back-up) service that is password protected at the off
site drive. That would allow people to have reciprocal agreements with
others who don't necesserly have to be blood trusted individuals to house a
drive that would synch and be a back-up of the home drive. Just a thought to
help the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation do more good should this be
profitable.
