How do I bring files from Word to microsoft works word processor?

I have a lot of files that are in Mircosoft Word. I have now gotten a new
compter and can not open any files that are e-mailed to me and open the files
in microsoft word into microsoft works word processor. I can not open any
files that are in microsoft word tht have been typed from before.
