How do I cancel an email transmission that's already "in progress"

I attempted to send an email with a large file (74MB) attached. It's been
hours, but the email is still in my in-box. When I attempt to open the email
(in order to copy the email text into another email...to send with a smaller
attachment), I am unable to do so. I receive an error message that
indicates I cannot open the email, as "transmission has already begun". This
occurs even when I close and restart Outlook.

Does anyone happen to know what, if anything, I can do to cancel this
transmission and/or recover the text of this original email?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
