How do I center text between the top and bottom of an autoshape?

Barb

With the Drawing toolbar I have used AutoShapes to make rectangles and I am
able to center the text in the rectangles between the left and right, but I
can't figure out how to center it between the top and bottom.

Word doesn't allow for vertical centering of text in text boxes, but you can
insert a single table cell and then use the Vertical Alignment controls for
tables (Word 97 and above).

Hi Barb -

You can't figure it out because it isn't an option... Word Text Boxes don't
support vertical centering :(

Unless I have mis-understood the problem, type out your text and set the text
box to no-fill & no-line and then simply position it over your rectangle. See
www.drawingwithword.com tutorial section on 'overlaying text'
