How do I change display language from German to English in Office XP?

Paul

Howdy,

Whilst in Europe I got a copy of Office XP which I was
assured could be set up in English... perhaps it can be,
but it is currently all in German and I can't speak enough
German to work it out. I have got as far as the
spellchecker, dictionary and date formats being in
English, but how do I change the menus, or even just the
help files so I can read the rest?

Is there a quick cheat like tweating a registry setting
or something?

Many thanks or Danke,

Paul

If Office XP could be configured to run in any language why would there be
different versions for each language, or is that too simple a question?

I dunno, where do Park Rangers go "just to get away from
it all"???

I figured the core program is common to all, but there is
a sep file... possibly .CMH that sets the menus up and so
forth... ah well, silly me I guess

You are both correct. There are localized versions that can only be run on
the OS of the same language, and there is a worldwide executable that you
can add language packs to.

Paul, you can try the following if you have the worldwide executable.

In Microsoft Windows XP, on the Windows Start menu, point to All Programs,
point to Microsoft Office, point to Microsoft Office Tools, and then click
Microsoft Office Language Settings.
In Windows 2000, on the Windows Start menu, point to Programs, point to
Microsoft Office, point to Microsoft Office Tools, and then click Microsoft
Office Language Settings.

If English is available, you should be able to configure it here.

Hi Paul,

I forgot to mention that this is only available with Enterprise versions of
Office XP. If you have a retail version, you cannot install the Language
packs, and as a result, your program would be in German.

Sorry for the mistake!

can't see it since it is all covered with ??????
Is there another way I can fix the interface language for
Office?
Thanks
