The only time you should need this with regards to FrontPage are when you
are publishing a local site to your server (in which case change the IP
address in the remote site properties) or when you want to work with a live
web, in which case you enter the ip address in the File | Open Web dialog.

Hope this helps,

Hello Mark,
thank you for responding to my post. from your instruction, i have clicked
on the "remote website properties" tab - this opens a box for:- remote
website, - optimize Html, - Publishing.
I cant seem to find any where in this area that asks about the ip address or
even has one displayed so i can change it.

Next i went to the file option at the top of page tool bar, here there is
available to: open/ however im not sure what im supposed to open here.

no luck so far. what next??
thanks
Ch

If you normally publish or open the live web using a URL similar to
http://www.example.com then you never need to use the IP address. The
URL will be changed to the IP by DNS servers (takes up to 3 days to
update DNS servers worldwide).

On the other hand if you publish to (or open) http://192.168.12.1 (or
similar format) then replace these numbers with your new IP. As pointed
out, these numbers go on the Remote Website tab in Publish Properties.
Look for the Remote Web Site Location box.
In the File Open Site dialogue, type in http://192.168.1.1 (use your
own IP) in the dialogue.
