how do I change margins, spacing, etc...

....on something I've pasted into a Word document from an email, or a
Google Groups post?

Everytime I paste something like this into Word, it comes with lots of
'tab' symbols, and it wo't even let me adjust the margins.

Any help here would be appreciated.

Personally, I paste these kinds of documents into Notepad or wordpad,
save the file, and then open the file inside of word. This has a way
of stripping all (or most) of the extraneous formatting.

One could write a macro that strips all formatting from the clipboard
contents before pasting it. You could also allocate ctrl-C or something
like that as its shortcut key, if not ctrl-c.

It is a pity that Word is so hung up on formatting, to the expense of
the text itself.
